Survey Finds Employees Likely to Steal Data if Faced with Redundancy

A recent report from the IT security group CyberArk has found that 58% of workers in Britain would steal confidential information from the company they work for if they were to lose their job. It was also revealed in the findings that, at the moment, 40% of the British workforce are already collecting confidential company data to help them negotiate any future redundancy plans.

The types of information most likely to be stolen include customer databases, business proposals and product information. Between 2006 and 2208 the number of court cases brought against employees who then use private data they have taken illegally when they move to a new job has increased sevenfold. Employers should take all necessary steps to protect their confidential data.
