UK college or university will have to meet strict new criteria, as will

SMEs Encouraged to Mediate
Business owners in the SME sector are being urged to resolve workplace
disputes through mediation where possible, rather than heading straight
for an employment tribunal. ACAS, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration
Service, has released the advice, which is based on research that shows
mediation as a last resort for many small business owners.

Compulsory Retirement May be Banned
A test case being heard at the European Court of Justice may prohibit
employers from requiring workers to retire at the age of 65, if the ruling
finds forced retirement on the grounds of age discriminatory.

The government have launched an initiative to identify and penalise employers

New Law to Ensure Tips not to be Used as Part of NMW
The government has announced plans of a new legislation that makes it
illegal to include tips as part of the payment of National Minimum Wage
(NMW). Employers will no longer be allowed to use service charges that
are processed through the payroll to bring wages up to the NMW.
