of practice for consultation on the matters of discipline and grievances
in the workplace. The revised code aims to save money and time spent
on the current disciplinary and grievance procedures by facilitating quicker

Banks Lose Overdraft Charges Case
The UK’s banks lost the much anticipated and controversial test
case last month, against the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) over the fairness
of banks’ overdraft charges. The judge that oversaw the case
ruled in favour of the OFT as the body with the power to determine the
fairness of the charges.

Access to Public Contracts for SMEs
As part of the government’s incentive to try to boost business for

Changes to Tier Two of New Migrant Worker System
The government are intending to tighten up the rules of the second tier
of the Points Based System (PBS) for migrant workers, which is due to be
implemented this year. Tier two affects skilled workers from outside
the EEA applying for jobs within the UK, and eradicates old entry systems
such as the old work permit system.
