When you first contact the team at Carvill & Johnson, we carry out a free assessment of the nature and extent of the work you want us to do.
We will then tell you how much carrying out this work will cost, so you can decide whether or not to go ahead. Up to this point, you will incur no costs.
As the work progresses, we will not increase the fees we have agreed in advance, unless something arises which our partners consider could not have been reasonably foreseen. This is a rare occurrence, as our specialist lawyers are good at anticipating what will be required.
If something is foreseen as a possibility at the outset, then we may give you two prices, one for if it doesn’t occur and one for if it does.
If we do need to increase the price, it will be fair and proportionate to the amount of extra work required. You will be given the choice of whether or not to continue with the work before any additional cost is incurred.
To keep our charges low, we require prompt payment when it is due, and we will tell you at the start when that will be. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, credit/debit card or bank transfer. Please note there are limits to the amount of cash we are allowed to receive.
You can instruct us to act for you from start to finish on a matter or, if you prefer, to act for you from time-to-time when you need help. For example, you may not be able to afford representation for the whole of a court case, but might need guidance from time-to-time on what to do next or filling in complex forms.
So you can chose to either buy a bundle of legal services or just one service – it’s your choice to suit your budget.
